CIVIL ENGINEER

The successful candidate will serve under the general direction of the Director of Public Works, assisting and/or performs planning, field survey, project management, inspection, computerized drafting, design and office/field work in connection with the construction of sewers, water mains, sidewalks, roadways, bridges and other municipal projects.  Provides technical expertise and engineering services for a wide range of projects of the City of Big Rapids.  Ensures that projects are completed in accordance with applicable laws, codes, ordinances and accepted practices.   Bachelor’s degree in Civil engineering or comparable field of study from an accredited college or university is required. Candidates must possess a valid State of Michigan Driver’s License and EIT/FE certification is preferred with a goal of PE registration. Candidates must possess a thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, materials and equipment of civil engineering as applied to the design and construction of municipal infrastructures.

POLICE OFFICER

POLICE OFFICER – The City of Big Rapids is accepting applications for the position of full-time Police Officer.  Minimum requirements:  Graduation from high school or equivalent, two years of credits from an accredited college or university, and MCOLES certified/certifiable, minimum age of 21.    Applicants must submit a resume and cover letter along with the City of Big Rapids application.  Applicants will be required to participate in a multi-phase hiring process including but not limited to a written test, oral interview, ride a long and background investigation process.  Applications are available from the Human Resources Office, 226 N.
