Safety City is a program provided by the Big Rapids Department of Public Safety and the Meceola Child's Council that teaches children the proper safety covering a wide range of safety topics. Safety City is designed for children of the ages of 4 and 5 years old. During the week long course the range of safety topics covered include pedestrian safety, bicycle safety, water safety, fire safety, strangers, poisons, school bus safety, car seats, etc. The course is limited to certain amount of participants and usually held in June.
